What is the liquid you see in artificial flower arrangements?

It looks like water, but it is solid, sort of like glycerine.

How does it stay put?

What is the best way to clean silk flower arrangements (roses)?

I just swish mine around in cold soapy water for a couple of minutes, rinse and dry gently in a towel. Actually, I do that for all of my silk flowers.

Reply:buy real ones
Reply:I swish mine GENTLY in luke warm water with a little detergent, then you could pat dry GENTLY and if wanted, you could hang upside down to dry thoroughly. Tie the stems together before you start with some string and then you could peg on clothes line by the string. If you dust them often, you wont need to wash them frequently.
Reply:This will probably sound odd but my wife has used an old makeup/blush brush to clean the silk flower arrangement on our dresser. It did a great job.

Where Are some good places to buy Christmas flower arrangements?

I already searched yahoo and they are for my great-grandma who only likes carnations.

They%26#039;ll make anything for you even include chocolate in your arrangement
Reply:Does your great-grandmother like the smell of fresh pine? If she doesn%26#039;t mind the aroma of fresh pine try calling a florist, explain you would like a centerpiece with some pine, a few pine cones, a few red and white carnations, a candle and vase and a pretty red bow in it. I usually send centerpieces off to a couple of my relatives and they love the centerpiece of fresh pine and a candle.
Reply:I know Michaels has a good assortment of fake flower arrangements (very pretty). Otherwise, try a grocery store like Cub Foods. They usually have many options with carnations.

I'm looking for a good website with flower arrangements for my bouquet ideas any body know any?

hey omg i was just in this boat... i went to Barnes and Noble and Books-a-Million and i found a book on different bouquets and how to make them... this book is great, it tells you exactly what you need and it tells you directions and step by step picture examples to go by. the book is Creative Wedding Florals you can make... It was 20.00 dollars but i think it is well worth it. I hope this works out for you....

Anyone know where to get inexpensive (but tasteful) flower arrangements in Jhb? Wedding in december....?

Don%26#039;t know where you live but there was a florist called Ruby Mountain in Thrupps Centre, Oxford Road, Sandton when I lived there and the flowers were fab. Don%26#039;t know if still there though. Congrats on the wedding.

Reply:I got married 10 Dec, we used holly and ivy - freely available in most woods and forests! For colour, nab some holly with berries!
Reply:I don%26#039;t know where you are but floral wholesalers will save you lots and lots of money. Many have catalogs on line. Of course you and/or your friends or wedding planner will have to make the bouquets, etc but you%26#039;ll save a lot.
Reply:Arrange it yourself or get a friend with a knack to do it.

That%26#039;s what I did. (Dec. 2 last year)

There are floral foams available in craft stores, and bridal bouquet holders.

Call around to flower shops and see which ones offer the cheapest un-arranged flowers.

My sister helped me do mine.

You can find pictures of beautiful flower arrangements to look at for a guide.

Try it with something cheap(like carnations) ahead of time if you%26#039;re worried. I like carnations. But I wanted dark red roses for my decor.

Have fun
Reply:where are you from. Silk flowers will be much cheaper and save you a bundle, plus you have keepsakes from your wedding.www.poetry.com

What is oasis that is used in flower arrangements made from?

Phenolics (PF) or (phenol formaldehydes)

high modulus, relatively heat resistant, and excellent fire resistant polymer. Used for insulating parts in electrical fixtures, paper laminated products (e.g. %26quot;Formica%26quot;), thermally insulation foams. It is a thermosetting plastic, with the familiar trade name Bakelite, that can be moulded by heat and pressure when mixed with a filler-like wood flour or can be cast in its unfilled liquid form or cast as foam, e.g. %26quot;Oasis%26quot;. Problems include the probability of mouldings naturally being dark colours (red, green, brown), and as thermoset difficult to recycle.
